In July 2012, Forbes columnist Kevin Kruse defined employee engagement as “the emotional commitment the employee has to the organization and its goals.” How do you measure and track employee engagement? Toronto firm TemboSocial believes it has answered that question with the release of its recent product, TemboStatus.
TemboStatus is a single platform that measures and manages employee engagement and satisfaction. It provides surveys, a dashboard with real-time monitoring, and customized, actionable guidance based upon the survey results. There is also a timeline function that lets users track, manage and share engagement efforts with the organization’s senior leadership. TemboStatus’ reporting function is customizable and lets users slice by role, location, tenure, pay or other dimensions. A marketplace provides a single spot to find premium templates that help managers optimize and speed up communications with employees. TemboStatus is also mobile; it has a secure and responsive design for desktops, Android and iOS platforms.
“The history of the product comes from our work on employee engagement surveys using our TemboSocial Polls product,” said Jason Slaughter, VP, product management, TemboSocial. “We found that companies would work with us to run a survey, but after the results came in they didn’t know what to do next. And that’s where we had the idea for TemboStatus. There are lots of products that allow you to run engagement surveys, and they all have fancy surveys and reporting, but there’s no tool out there that actually tells you what to do after the survey, and, as we’ve found, it’s everything that comes after the survey that matters.”
“TemboStatus uses unique survey questions and analysis algorithms that we’ve developed by working together with a PhD in industrial psychology,” Slaughter explained. “We have also developed over 50 programs and techniques from our previous work on employee engagement with TemboSocial, and we have built these programs into the software. After the survey is finished, the algorithms calculate the top three areas of focus, based on the survey data, and links the the most relevant programs for improving engagement in those areas. The result is employee engagement software that provides not just survey results, but a full plan on what to do next to act on the results of the survey.”
The cloud-hosted software is now available globally.
