NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a provider of strategic IT and communications solutions, announced a new cloud collaboration service today. The new service enhances NEC’s cloud offerings for the increasing number of businesses who want to move applications to the cloud.
NEC’s new offering is aimed at its Cisco-centric customer base. To appeal to the needs of this target group, NEC has added Cisco’s Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS) to its cloud portfolio. The hosted collaboration service will be delivered through NEC’s direct channel and deployed and managed in the NEC Cloud.
The HCS offering is a subscription-based, “as-a-service” cloud solution. Based on Cisco Collaboration technologies, it provides secure, cloud-ready virtualized platforms. These platforms are under a centralized management system, and give businesses more ways to leverage their existing Cisco investments.
In the future, NEC says it plans to add further services to its cloud portfolio.
“We’re planning even more enhancements to the Private Application Cloud portfolio, including integration with NEC’s newly launched Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) offering as well as contact center support,” said Vinod Muthuswamy, vice president of managed services, NEC.
The HCS solution will be delivered through NEC’s Private Application Cloud portfolio. NEC’s cloud portfolio includes hosted ERP and database applications, business analytics, and UNIVERGE Cloud Services UCaaS.
