Fortinet announced today three new application delivery controllers (ADCs) for enterprise data centres and managed service providers.
The FortiADC-1500D, FortiADC-2000D, and FortiADC-4000D are part of an expansion of Fortinet’s Application Delivery Controller lineup and are intended to reduce cost of ownership while delivering high performance, scalability, and availability for Internet-based applications.
“Today’s announcement nearly doubles the size of Fortinet’s hardware ADC appliance family to serve the application delivery needs of larger enterprises and managed service providers and highlights Fortinet’s leadership and vision related to the convergence of networking and security functionalities. No other ADC manufacturer offers our ratio of price to performance while including many options like Global Server Load Balancing and 10 Gigabit SFP+ connectivity,” said John Maddison, VP, marketing, Fortinet.
Each ADC boasts faster performance speeds, with the FortiADC-1500D providing 20 Gbps for layer 4 throughput and up to 800,000 layer 7 transactions per second. The 2000D provides speeds of 30 Gbps for layer 4 throughput and up to 1,200,000 layer 7 transactions per second, while the 4000D provides 50 Gbps for layer 4 throughput and up to 1,600,000 transactions per second.
The appliances also feature dedicated SSL offload hardware. The 1500D can handle up to 14,500 SSL connections per second, whereas the 2000D and 4000D can each handle up to 31,000 connections per second.
Additionally, the 4000D features dual hot-swappable power supplies, enabling users to switch power supplies without interrupting device operations. A dedicated management port also allows the device to be managed remotely when it is powered down.
