Box, the file sharing and synchronization service, announced the launch of a plan tailored to small businesses. SMBs can pay $5 a month per user for 100GB. The company hopes that its newest subscription enables more small businesses to move their content to the cloud.
In addition to the $5 a month starter plan, Box also introduced several other plans that it predicts will appeal to the enterprise. Its business plan costs $15 a month per user, offering 1000GB of storage and a 5GB file size limit. Box’s business plan includes one premium enterprise application integration, such as Salesforce.com or Active Directory, as well as basic administrative console functions and device pinning for added security. The enterprise plan costs $35 per user per month, and allows for unlimited storage with a 5GB file size limit. This model allows for an unlimited number of external collaborators and enterprise application integrations, full group Active Directory support, access to the full Box administrative console, security reporting and content management services, and the Box Content API for three custom applications. Box also announced it would offer an elite plan, which includes the features of the enterprise model in addition to the highest level of Box support, a free test environment, and unlimited use of the Box Content API for custom internal applications.
Over 180,000 businesses use Box to share and manage their content in the cloud, with Box users at 97 percent of the Fortune 500. Box grew sales more than 150 percent in its most recent fiscal year (FY2013) and is on pace to more than double sales again in the current year (FY2014). Both Gartner and Forrester have named the company as a leader in file synchronization and sharing.
“We’re focused on removing any and all barriers to cloud adoption,” said Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO, Box. “More than ever before, the economy today is driven by information and collaboration. Whether you’re a global corporation, a small business, or a freelancer, the key to competing is being able to securely share, manage and access your content anywhere, on any device. These new plans make the cloud more accessible than ever before.”
